Building constructed of wood. Valuing Construction Stored Carbon

Valuing Construction-Stored Carbon

Construction-stored carbon (CSC) valuation is gaining traction in the real estate industry and among policymakers at various levels as a potential incentive for using timber and biobased materials over carbon-intensive ones. Despite rapid developments in the last two years, CSC adoption is still in its early stages, with many questions and controversies around carbon offsetting.

Programme & Speakers

In this webinar, Sacha Brons, Head of Construction Stored Carbon, Climate Cleanup Foundation delves into CSC valuation, examining its opportunities and challenges from both policy and practical perspectives. It follows a review of the EU Carbon Removals Certification Framework and discuss key questions with Sevim Aktas, Policy Officer at DG CLIMA.

Practical insights are provided by Rosa Bos, Developer, Ballast Nedam on their CSC valuation approach in the Natuurhuizen project in Heeze, Netherlands, and Laurence Desmazieres, Managing Partner, ICAWOOD on the Label Bas Carbone in France. The session concludes with a panel discussion featuring Stephanie Carlisle from the Carbon Leadership Forum, exploring the economic and governance aspects of these projects and Frank Vasek, Head of Carbon Solutions, Timber Finance.
